Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be one of your three Secretaries-General this year! I've always admired the goals that the real United Nations have strived to accomplish and enjoy learning about what's going on beyond our own backyards. Besides Model UN, I was involved in Carey's past two productions of Anything Goes and Seussical, as well as NYSSMA for voice, clarinet, and All County Vocal Jazz; I'm planning to major in Music Education in the near future. I hope you all enjoy and learn a lot from this conference!

Under Secretaries-General of United Nations Environmental Program and NGO’s
Rory O'Reilly (SHS)
Dear friends,
I am Rory O'Reilly, a current senior at Sewanhaka High School. I will be your USG of UNEP and NGO’s.
Since the 8th grade, MUN has been changing my life one motion at a time. I am currently the Co-Vice President of MUN, President of the Class of 2012, President of Mathletes, double lawyer for Mock Trial, Co-Vice President of Future Business Leaders of America, Vice President of Student Council, and Secretary of Senior National Honor society.
Model UN has given me the outlet to safely surge my passion for the art of debate. This mere club that we all take part in has connected us into a brotherhood or sisterhood that only we can truly understand. Could we ever explain sly dubious MUN tricks or the fierce nature of debate to our peers? This pact has brought us closer together, creating a new level of friendship. In the debate room you will always be referred to as the country that you are representing. However, outside of the conference room you will always be referred to as my MUN buddy. This friendship that we all possess will forever connect us.
I would like to thank everyone that has been involved in the SIDMUN process. On behalf of the rest of the SIDMUN staff I'd like to motion for an EXCELLENT conference this year. I'll see you there.
-Rory O'Reilly

I'll be stopping by every so often during the conference, but until then, good luck to everyone and I look forward to seeing everyone that day. Administrative Executive Director
Kieran O'Reilly (SHS)
Dear Delegates,
My Model UN journey started in the 5th grade when Mr. Marcus came to my school and asked us if we knew what the United Nations did. Of course no one did; however, we soon learned. It is amazing how a group of 5th grade students can transition from a pack of regular kids eager for recess into a conference of highly sophisticated delegates preparing for a serious discussion on the topic Nuclear Non-Proliferation. We soon gave up much more then recess for Model UN; it took over our young lives. We became more than just MUNers. We were diplomats, politicians, and the poor unforgotten farmer. To the imaginative person, MUN has that effect. It grabs hold of their minds and takes them on a journey through far away countries. I was not alone in this phenomenon. The other diplomats, politicians, and farmers would become some of my closest allies and fiercest foes.
We carried this all throughout my high school career, developing and encouraging each other along the way. Now I am a junior at Sewanhaka High School. My name is Kieran O’Reilly. I can now boast attending many away conferences and winning. Currently I am the Co-Vice President of the Sewanahaka Model UN program. It is truly an honor to work with the amazing people at Sewanhaka Model UN every morning. I have taken those basic rules of parliamentary procedure out of the conference room and into other aspects of life as well. In addition to Model UN, I am the President of our Future Business Leaders of America chapter and a competitive runner. This year for SIDMUN I was able to work with the best secretariat imaginable. The advice and guidance they have given me has been invaluable. A huge thank you goes out to my advisor, Mr. Sakowich, and my chairperson, Mr. Schwartz, for their tremendous help in all of my efforts. I was very busy this year developing the SIDMUN website, but nothing is too much for Model UN, the club that has always given so much to me. I wish you all the best at this year’s SIDMUN. Make me proud!

Crystal Nwaogbe(ELM)
Dear MUN Delegates,
My name is Crystal Nwaogbe and I am beyond honored to chair the Security Council Committee this year. As this school year is coming to a close, we, as delegates are here to simulate and assume the positions of the great leaders in the world, those who have come before us and are here now, and if we happen to discover the answers to the enigmas that have puzzled the world for years, then let us call ourselves champions. Attending and winning conferences at the University of Pennsylvania, the National High School Invitational, University of Chicago, Georgetown, Rutgers, etc. has really given me a sense of what it is to affect change not only for a friend, or your own community, but for the global community as a whole. MUN has not only increased my empathy and awareness of current affairs, but also has given me the chance to build lifelong friends from all around the world, and that is an experience that in itself is rare, and quite treasurable. The amount of effort put into this legendary club will only serve to benefit us all as we are molded into integral parts of this ever changing modern world. With that said, I would like to take this opportunity to wish every delegate participating in this conference good luck, and God bless. -Crystal NwaogbeAndy Chang (NHP)
